Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Torbay Children’s Services is seeking two dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Coordinators to join our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).

As a Referral Coordinator, you’ll be the first point of contact for safeguarding referrals. You’ll handle sensitive information received via phone, email, post, and in person from professionals and members of the public. Your role will be vital in ensuring timely and accurate recording of referral details using the Liquid Logic case management system.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Receive and record referral information across multiple channels.
Input and update children’s and families’ records using Liquid Logic.
Liaise with internal and external services to ensure appropriate follow-up.
Provide clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Familiarity with local services supporting families in Torbay.
Willingness to learn and use the Liquid Logic system effectively.

This post will be carrying out Regulated Activity. As such the post will require an Enhanced Criminal Record Check plus an additional Barred List Check. The check will reveal any spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions (which have not been filtered), any local Police information and a check of either the Adult, Child or Adult and Child Barred Lists.

Skills

Essential:

An understanding of Child Development, Family Support and Child Protection.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise with other agencies and professionals.
Effective telephone manner and good recording skills.
Reliability, commitment and flexibility.
Keyboard/IT Skills.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Knowledge

Essential:

Understanding of Every Child Matters and Change for Children Agenda.
Knowledge of the legislation affecting the provision of safeguarding services to children and families as identified within the Children Act 1989 and 2004 and the NHS and Community Care Act 1990.
Understanding of the framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
An understanding of basic human needs, cultural, physical, emotional and social.
Knowledge of case recording systems, such as Liquid Logic.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

Educated to GCSE O Level standard or equivalent or above.
Evidence of consistent pattern of learning from education, training and expertise.
Experience of dealing with the public, either through Health, Education, Social Services, Voluntary Agency work.
Child Protection Emotional Abuse and Neglect.
