Torre Abbey has recently been successful in securing the Development Phase of a new multi-million-pound project known as Torre Abbey New Beginnings Chapter One.

We are looking for an experienced Stakeholder Engagement and Activity Plan Coordinator to support the new project.

Torre Abbey is Torbay's most historic building complex dating from 1196. A scheduled monument set within 17.8 acres of gardens and parkland. It's an accredited museum owned by Torbay Council, home to a regionally important collection it's been a centre of religious and artistic expression and hospitality for over 800 years.

We are passionate about creating a universally welcoming environment and we work with a range of partners to develop an increasingly accessible offer for our local community.

What you'll be doing:

You will use your stakeholder engagement experience to map all stakeholders for Torre Abbey related to this project and then create a strategy for meaningful engagement. You will then use your communication and engagement skills to enact this strategy creating and delivering a series of creative activities to gain a wide variety of views and levels of interest in the project.

You will need to be organised with good attention to detail to manage several different engagement groups simultaneously whilst providing detailed evaluation and feedback from the engagement activities to feed into the architects designs.

You will use your knowledge of the NLHF to create an activity plan for engaging people directly with the project once we reach Delivery Phase (planned for October 2026).

If Torre Abbey is successful in the Delivery Phase application this post is likely to be extended for a further 12 months.

This position is for a fixed term of 12 months from the start date.

Skills

Essential:

Able to draw information out from a wide range of people and perspectives.
Able to lead / facilitate structured workshops, meetings and other similar gatherings.
Self-motivated and creative.
Evaluation skills.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Knowledge

Essential:

Detailed knowledge of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and their investment principles.
Understanding of creating a strategy to be delivered within a fixed budget.
Detailed understanding of community engagement with places and/or the benefits of the historic environment for communities.
An understanding of the use of digital resources to deliver engagement activities.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

Extensive experience of developing and delivering a Stakeholder Engagement Strategy within the heritage or cultural sector.
Experience of stakeholder mapping and identifying those who are missing from engagement.
Experience managing a budget and providing appropriate reporting.
Experiencing of representing an organisation in the public arena.
